Changes to our Privacy Policy include:
* Updates to comply with the new requirements under the EU General Data Protection Regulation
* More transparency and clarity around the types of information we collect and how it is used

How are we using your data?

Mainly, we are using your email address:
– To send you a monthly newsletter sharing information about topics of socializing and language learning
– To invite you to our interncultural events – Language exchange meetings and & or language tables
– To send you occassionally information about our partner news, events and offers

1. General

ICC is a local voluntary community based in Cork, Ireland. We run our website (www.internationalclubcork.ie) to share information
about our events and occassionally we publish blog posts about different topics which we believe may help our community.

2. Information collection by ICC
It is not possible to create an account on our website, we don’t have any database about our members. We manage an e-mail newsletter platform (Mailchimp) which allows us to keep in contact with our audience and inform them about our upcoming events. We don’t use cookies and we don’t share any information with third parties. We only collect minimal personal information with our subscription form (full name, e-mail address, country of origin, age, level of language knowledge).
We are asking this information in order to:

– Organize our targeted events (specific languages for example)
– Make sure you are over 21 years old if you register for an event in a public pub or bar

Our e-mail newsletters and forms are designed by Mailchimp which conforms to the latest EU GDPR regulations. Our users can always easily unsubscribe from our newsletter by clicking on a link at the bottom of each e-mail or by contacting ICC.

With our newsletter we would like to inform you about current topics around ICC and our upcoming events, occassionally partner events and offers which we believe bring benefits to our community in Cork. We send newsletters and e-mails with advertising information only with the consent of the recipient or a legal permission. To sign up for the newsletter, a valid email address is required. To verify the e-mail address, you will first receive a registration e-mail, which you must confirm via a link (double-opt-in process).

The legal basis for this data processing is Article 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You have the right to withdraw your consent to the receipt of our newsletter at any time with effect for the future. Please send us an e-mail or simply unsubscribe from the newsletter. A link to unsubscribe is located at the bottom of each newsletter (opt-out option).

For our newsletter, we use “MailChimp”, a newsletter tool. MailChimp is certified according to the data protection agreement EU-US Privacy Shield. MailChimp uses your e-mail address only on our behalf and not contacting you directly. MailChimp offers statistical analysis of usage data. Among other things, this includes information as to whether an e-mail has reached the recipient or whether it has been rejected by the server and which links have been clicked. To do this, MailChimp uses a so-called counting pixel, which is called up when the newsletter is opened by the MailChimp server. For the technical improvement of the service, technical information (eg IP address, browser type and version, time of retrieval) is collected.

The legal basis for this processing is Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our main interest is the use of a user-friendly, easy and secure system for sending our newsletter. If you do not want your data to be processed by MailChimp, you should not subscribe to the newsletter or unsubscribe from it. Further information on data protection can be found on the Internet at http://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/.
